Hi, I’m Tony Ponzo. I’m 77 years old and like you, I’m always looking for ways to pad my monthly income without having to work a part-time job and work for someone else, on someone else’s schedule. I found an excellent source of passive income but I still am looking for other retiree income ideas.

I want to earn this extra income working at my own pace and in the comfort of my home. In my opinion, passive income is the best kind of income. By passive, I mean income that is generates on its own with little day-to-day effort.

This could include a lot of ideas and in this blog I hope to explore and discuss as many ideas as possible so that we can help each other.

For me, one of the best methods has been investing my savings in high dividend stocks. I will be sharing what I have learned along with other income ideas in some detail in my future blog posts.

Just to give you a little background, I’ve always made my living from running my own businesses. Along with my wife Pat, we have had four different businesses, some very successful and a couple – not so much. ☹️

Our first business was started back in 1972. Yes, that sounds like ancient times. 😬 Anyway, it was a medical claims processing business- specializing in pharmacy claims. The business grew for 20 years and was our most successful venture. We eventually sold that business to a publicly traded health insurance company in the 1990s.

Our second business, which was also successful, was in the stock market education field. A neighbor of mine, Mike, had been involved in the stock market for years and he and his son had become very interested in stocks that split.

Mike’s son developed a program to extensively analyze common aspects of stock splits and came up with a marvelous system to pick favorable times to invest in stocks that had or were about to split and the best time to sell. So, my wife and I partnered with Mike and his son to market and educate investors about this split strategy and formed an online educational service called SplitMaster.com.

SplitMaster.com ended around 2015 when Mike, who is quite a bit older than us, got to an age where he was ready to retire. Around the same time our head tech person passed away. It was time to call it a day.

There were two more businesses that my wife and I started. A coffee shop business named Home Brew Coffee, and believe it or not, a music video business for colleges called Big Noise. Neither were very successful and neither lasted very long. Although I have to say, the music video business was extremely fun. We got to meet a lot of famous young artists. But don’t ask how we got involved in that. That story is a bit long. Maybe I’ll get into that someday in one of my blogs.

I should also mention, just for fun, that I am a guitar player and have been playing for about 65 years. I’ve played everything from rock music in my younger days to classical guitar today. Music has always been a big part of my life, and I still enjoy learning and improving.
